Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser inspires Kuwait handball team ahead of 2025 World Cup

ZAGREB, Jan 12: As part of the extensive support extended to Kuwait’s national handball team ahead of their participation in the 2025 World Cup, Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser, Chairman of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, visited the team’s training camp in Croatia. During his visit, Sheikh Fahad met with players, technical staff, and administrators to personally motivate and encourage them.

In his address to the players, Sheikh Fahad urged them to perform at a level that reflects the rich legacy of Kuwaiti handball. He emphasized the importance of representing Kuwait with high spirit and determination in this major international tournament, marking the team’s return to the World Cup after a 14-year absence.

“Kuwaiti handball holds a distinguished reputation globally. These achievements are a testament to the unwavering support of our political leadership, led by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, ” Sheikh Fahad stated.

Qaed Al-Adwani, Secretary of the Handball Federation and Head of the National Team’s World Cup Mission expressed gratitude for Sheikh Fahad’s visit and support. He remarked, “This visit has a significant impact on the players, motivating them to give their all and represent Kuwaiti handball at its best on the global stage.”

The Kuwaiti will compete in the 29th World Cup, hosted across Croatia, Denmark, and Norway from January 14 to February 2. Kuwait has been placed in Group 3, with matches scheduled in the Croatian city of Portisch, alongside Qatar, France, and Austria.

The team’s schedule begins with Austria on January 15, followed by France on January 16, and Qatar on January 18.

Kuwait’s preparation included an external training camp in Croatia, followed by another in Tunisia, before returning to Croatia for the final phase. The team is set for their last training session today ahead of the opening match against Austria. This extensive preparation and high-level support aim to position Kuwait as a competitive force in the 2025 World Cup, rekindling its global presence in handball.
