KUWAIT CITY, March 21: Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Ahmad Al Sabah, President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, reiterated the committee’s unwavering support for all sports federations and clubs, emphasizing their commitment to enhancing sports development and securing remarkable achievements in international competitions. This commitment is underpinned by the robust backing provided by the country’s political leadership to sports and athletes.

Addressing reporters following the reception by the Family Sports Committee at the committee’s headquarters in the Jaber Al-Ahmad City Youth Center, Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Ahmad Al Sabah described the event as an invaluable opportunity to engage with athletes and glean insights aimed at propelling the Kuwaiti sports movement forward.

He revealed that preparations are underway for Kuwaiti teams’ participation in the upcoming Gulf Youth Games scheduled to take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in April. The Kuwaiti contingent is set to compete in over 18 team and individual events. Additionally, plans are in motion for the forthcoming Olympic Games in Paris 2024, where several Kuwaiti athletes are poised to showcase their talents across various disciplines.

In a similar sentiment, Abdullah Al-Shaheen, President of the Kuwait Football Association, commended the gathering as a testament to the camaraderie among members of all sports bodies. He hailed the initiative as a platform for fostering dialogue aimed at bolstering collaboration among sports institutions nationwide.

Al-Shaheen highlighted the Kuwaiti football team’s rigorous preparations for their encounters against their Qatari counterparts in the joint Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup. Expressing optimism, he voiced hopes for a favorable outcome for the “Blues” against the reigning Asian champions.

Echoing these sentiments, Fuhaid Al-Ajmi, President of the Kuwaiti Winter Games Club, underscored the significance of such gatherings in nurturing a spirit of unity and solidarity among Kuwaiti athletes and sports enthusiasts alike.
Al-Ajmi disclosed that the club is gearing up to host the Ice Hockey World Cup slated for April, underscoring that Kuwait’s role as host for these prestigious international sporting events, supported by the committee and the General Sports Authority, serves to elevate its stature on the global sports stage.
