'The era of chaos is over'

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 31: In a heartfelt statement, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef expressed his sincere wishes for 2025 to be a year of prosperity and blessings for Kuwait and its citizens. He encouraged everyone to welcome the new year with joy, happiness, and optimism, emphasizing that "there are no violations of joy."

In a brief interview during his visit to Al-Dughaishim's office, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef addressed the ongoing efforts in examining and scrutinizing individuals seeking nationality. He highlighted that 37,000 nationalities may require years of thorough investigation. He stated, "After reviewing these files, we will consider those who believe they deserve citizenship."

The conversation, which was spontaneous and informal, took place in the presence of prominent figures such as former National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Al-Seyassah Suleiman Al-Jarallah, Major General Eng. Faisal Al-Jazzaf, Chairman of the Retired Officers Association, and businessmen Abdulsalam Al-Awadhi, along with Khaled and Abdulaziz Al-Dughaishem, the hosts of the diwaniya.

Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef further emphasized that "the era of chaos is over," noting that nepotism and favoritism will no longer be tolerated. "We are a state of law, and what happened in the past was a crime against Kuwait," he remarked. He explained that the rush to obtain citizenship in the past was driven purely by material goals, rather than genuine allegiance to the country.

When asked about the number of dual citizens, the First Deputy Prime Minister explained, "Until today, no one can determine this number."

On the topic of the "Gulf 26 Championship," Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef shared that 13,000 visas had been issued for Iraqi visitors to Kuwait during the sports event. He added that meetings with managers of hotels across all classes revealed that all hotels were fully booked, an unprecedented occurrence.

As the New Year approached, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef addressed the citizens, saying, "Rejoice and be happy on New Year's Day." He concluded by wishing for a joyful start to 2025, expressing hope that the year would bring goodness and blessings to both Kuwait and its people.
