KUWAIT CITY, Oct 28: His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah inaugurated the first ‘French Week in Kuwait’ at the Assimah Mall on Wednesday. The theme of the event is “France in Kuwait”, and it is under the gracious patronage of Sheikh Nasser. Several ambassadors, heads of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions, and prominent public figures attended the event. Sheikh Nasser visited the exhibition pavilions, featuring French institutions and companies in different sectors. The event aims to showcase French expertise and strengths in various fields, such as culture, automotive, high-tech industries and organizational development, with the participation of renowned global brands.

Ambassador of the French Republic to Kuwait, Olivier Gauvin emphasized that the launching of the exhibition reflects the strength and depth of the partnership between the two nations— a partnership built on decades of cooperation that continues to evolve, promoting prosperity and security, while serving mutual interests. Gauvin indicated that the exhibition highlights the extensive scope of bilateral cooperation, including trade, investment, education, culture, defense and modern technologies. He said French companies continue to contribute their expertise and innovative solutions in several priority sectors in Kuwait, while Kuwaiti investors and institutions maintain valued presence in the dynamic French economy. He affirmed that educational and cultural ties remain at the core of this partnership, growing ever stronger, thanks to the continuous interest of Kuwaiti students, families and visitors who consider France a preferred destination.

He expressed his appreciation for the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nasser, and commended the tremendous efforts exerted by Chairman of the Organizing Committee Ahmad Ismail Behbehani and his team. In addition, Behbehani stressed that holding this important event under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nasser has exceptional importance in strengthening Kuwaiti- French relations—a significance further underscored by the fact that it coincides with the celebration of 65 years of strong diplomatic ties. He stated that bilateral relations are currently at the peak, bolstered by support from the political leaders in both nations. He said this is exemplified by the historic visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to France last year, followed by the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Kuwait this month. He stressed the importance of regularly hosting joint events, as they provide added value by opening new horizons for cooperation, solidifying cultural and economic bonds, and supporting the shared journey towards the growth, stability and prosperity of the two friendly nations.
