KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governor Sheikh Sabah Badr Al-Sabah warmly welcomed the delegations participating in the second Friendly International Tournament of Salwa Al-Sabah Club for Women's Volleyball, which kicked off last Thursday and will run until February 5.
Sheikh Al-Sabah expressed his delight over the participation of Gulf, Arab, and international teams in this tournament, now in its second edition. He highlighted the success of the first edition, which underscores the exceptional efforts of the Board of Directors of Salwa Al-Sabah Club, led by Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad. These efforts contribute significantly to the development of women’s volleyball and provide players with valuable experience through interactions with diverse international and Arab volleyball schools.
This statement was made during the opening ceremony of the tournament, attended by the President and members of Salwa Al-Sabah Club, led by Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad, Ali Al-Kuwari, President of the Qatari and West Asian Volleyball Federations, Dr. Jaber Al-Marri, President of the Kuwaiti Volleyball Federation, Assistant Secretary Nayef Al-Khamili, and several Kuwaiti ambassadors and heads of delegations.
On his part, Dr. Jaber Al-Marri, President of the Kuwaiti Volleyball Federation, affirmed that the Federation has committed all necessary resources to ensure the tournament’s success, including providing experienced referees and offering support to Salwa Club. He emphasized that the Federation is determined to make the tournament a success, especially since it is being hosted in Kuwait.
On the first day of the tournament, Salwa Club defeated the Emirati Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy 3-0. On the second day, the Tunisian national team triumphed over Saudi Al-Ula Club 3-0, while Lebanon's Al-Shabiba Al-Bouchrieh beat the Qatari national team 3-0, and the Swiss Geneva Club won 3-1 against Iraq's Akada Ankawa.
Saudi Al-Ula defeated the Qatari national team 3-1, and Al-Shabiba Al-Bouchrieh beat the Tunisian national team 3-0.
