KUWAIT CITY, Jan 13: The Kuwait Asian Shooting Championship is currently underway at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Olympic ranges complex, featuring the participation of 26 countries. Today's schedule includes men's, women's, and junior qualifiers for 75 plates at 3:00 pm.

Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi, the President of the Arab and International Shooting Federations, inaugurated the technical meeting of the championship. The meeting saw the presence of Luciano Rossi, President of the International Shooting Federation, Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud, President of the Asian Shooting Federation, Abdullah Al-Hammadi, the technical delegate for the championship, members of the Asian Shooting Federation, and heads of delegations. Discussions centered on the tournament system and the rules of the International Federation for Managing Competitions.

Additionally, the Asian Shooting Federation convened yesterday, led by Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud. The meeting, attended by members of the Executive Office and heads of working committees, involved a review of committee reports. Obaid Manahi Al-Osaimi, the Secretary-General of the Kuwaiti and Arab Shooting Federations and tournament director, emphasized that the Continental Federation has devised plans to enhance shooting on the continent by intensifying efforts.

Al-Osaimi revealed that the Kuwaiti Asian Shooting Championship offers a chance to compete for eight spots in the 2024 Paris Olympics. He extended his best wishes for success to all participants, expressing hope for achieving the desired results in the tournament hosted by Kuwait.

In conclusion, Al-Osaimi commended the efforts of the Supreme Organizing Committee and the tournament's working committees, acknowledging the dedication of Kuwaiti volunteers to ensure the success of the event. The gathering of participating teams was attended by Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud, President of the Asian Shooting Federation, Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi, President of the Kuwaiti and Arab Shooting Federations, and Luciano Rossi, President of the International Federation of Shooting, as they assessed the teams' final preparations for the championship.

On another note, Khaled Ibrahim, head of the Jordanian delegation, stated that Jordan is actively participating in the Asian Championship with its national team, featuring six shooters in both dirt and skeet competitions. He praised Kuwait's organizing capabilities, emphasizing the success achieved in hosting major tournaments with a diverse international participation.
