NEW YORK, Nov 26: Fast-tracking success in the corporate world is now just a few clicks away, as new research reveals that 82% of young professionals rely on artificial intelligence (AI) to perform their tasks.
A striking 88% of respondents say advanced technology helps them overcome “task paralysis,” a modern affliction akin to the “functional freeze” trend seen on social media, which arises when workplace demands become overwhelming.
“The future of work is here — and it’s AI-powered,” said Yulie Kwon Kim, Vice President of Product at Google Workspace, in a statement. She added, “Rising leaders are not only advocating for AI but also using it in meaningful ways, from enhancing communication with colleagues to creating more time for strategic initiatives.”
Gen Z, known for embracing high-tech solutions to streamline work and reduce stress, continues to innovate. From using ChatGPT to negotiate salaries to replacing traditional résumés with creative “hire me” TikToks, this generation is redefining the workday.
The findings come from a November report by Google Workspace, which shows that Gen Z — individuals under the age of 27 — is using AI to handle relatively simple tasks such as drafting emails and taking meeting notes. Millennials, aged 27 to 42, are also increasingly dependent on these tools.
The study surveyed more than 1,000 young professionals, dubbed “young leaders,” aged 22 to 39. It found that 93% of Gen Z respondents and 79% of millennials use at least two AI tools weekly to enhance their workplace performance.
Experts noted that AI is not just about easing workloads but also about building essential workplace skills. “The data shows how AI can scale critical soft skills like collaboration, effective communication, and leadership,” the study authors explained.
By enabling faster and more efficient task completion, AI is reshaping how young professionals work, fostering empowerment and innovation in the process.
