LOS ANGELES, Jan 23, (Agencies): Sofia Vergara is shedding light on the reasons behind her separation from Joe Manganiello. In a recent interview, the 51-year-old Griselda star opened up about the decision to end her seven-year marriage in 2023.
"I am recently divorced from my second husband, with whom I shared a decade. Our marriage unraveled because my husband was younger," she explained. "He desired to start a family, while I was not keen on becoming an older mother. I believe it's not fair to the child. I respect those who choose that path, but it's not something I desire anymore."
Vergara, who already has a 32-year-old son named Manolo with her first husband, Joe Gonzalez, expressed her readiness to embrace the role of a grandmother rather than a mother. "I had a son at 19, and now I'm prepared to be a grandmother. If love comes my way, it must come with [its own] children. I'm approaching menopause; it's a natural progression. When my son becomes a father, let him bring the baby to me for a while, and then I'll return the bundle of joy to him and continue with my life. That's what I need to do."
Despite the challenges of her recent split, Vergara emphasized her contentment in her professional life. "I have achieved more in my career than I ever imagined. Acting was never a part of my dreams; it happened by accident," she reflected. "Being a judge on America's Got Talent for four years brings me a lot of joy. I have my own clothing and beauty brand. I can't even think of complaining about anything."
