LOS ANGELES, Jan 18, (Agencies): Sophie Turner has withdrawn her "wrongful retention" allegations against her estranged husband, Joe Jonas, concerning the custody of their two daughters. According to court records on Wednesday, a US judge gave approval to dismiss the case following the endorsement of a consent plan by both celebrities, which had been previously approved by a UK judge last week.
In September of the previous year, 27-year-old Turner filed a lawsuit against 34-year-old Jonas, accusing him of wrongful retention. She claimed that Jonas was holding onto their daughters' passports and preventing them from returning to England. The former couple, parents to 18-month-old Delphine and 3-year-old Willa, aimed for the "immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained," with Turner's legal team asserting that the "wrongful retention" began on Sept 20.
On the recent Wednesday, Jonas and Turner mutually decided to have the case dismissed "with prejudice, and without attorneys’ fees, expenses, costs, and/or disbursements awarded to either party" after their parenting agreement in the UK received approval on Jan 11.
Before the dismissal and in response to Turner's filing in September, Jonas released a statement the following day, disputing her claims. At that time, the singer expressed his belief that they had already reached an agreement to collaborate on a co-parenting plan.
