KUWAIT CITY, Sept 7: The Special Olympics Kuwait has organized a regional training course for trainers in the Special Olympics Motor Activity Program (MATP). This course, supervised by Special Olympics International for the Middle East and North Africa, involves 50 trainees from 11 Gulf and Arab countries and spans three days.

Rehab Bursali, National Director of Special Olympics Kuwait, shared on Saturday that the training course includes 40 athletes specializing in various motor activities and 13 athletes focused on swimming. Bursali highlighted that the course aims to enhance the skills of trainers and align with the goals of the Special Olympics, which strives to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports, health care, and diverse programs. This course also marks the introduction of a new health screening program, designed to advance the skills of both trainers and athletes with severe mental and motor disabilities. Bursali commended the efforts of the "Ambition Club" and Special Olympics Kuwait for their significant contributions to raising the country's profile in international and global forums.

Dr. Niamh Morton, Director of the Motor Activities Program at Special Olympics International, emphasized that the course is intended to develop a core group of trainers who will, in turn, train more individuals in the region, covering both theoretical and practical aspects.
