stc concludes its 2024 summer internship program

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: Kuwait Telecommunications Company – stc, a world-class digital leader providing innovative services and platforms to customers, enabling the digital transformation in Kuwait, concluded its 2024 summer internship program that aimed to provide youths with real life work experience in a dynamic work environment to prepare them for their future career paths. The program comes in line with stc’s recent recognition as the employer of choice for engineers and IT professionals in Kuwait according to Universum’s custom research. As part of its digital transformation strategy and sustainability program for 2024, the internship program was organized in line with stc Kuwait initiatives to empower the younger generation.

Throughout the summer internship program, 10 interns participating from different universities in the Middle East were assigned to different departments based on their academic backgrounds, where they were placed in challenging environments to showcase their true capabilities. The students spent more than 90 hours completing assigned tasks and learning about the different products and services at stc. Throughout their journey, they each got a chance to explore various aspects of stc’s comprehensive business model and operation. At the end of the program, the 10 participants brough their unique experiences together to present the knowledge they had gained while working at stc to the Company’s management.

In its ongoing pursuit to attract bright young talent, stc organized various education programs throughout the years that have achieved a high success rate in hiring interns based on their performance. Additionally, the Company leverages these programs to educate students on aspects related to digital transformation as well as applying sustainable practices that focus not only on the environment, but all aspects of life.

Abdulaziz Al-Mathkoor, Acting Chief Human Resources Officer of stc, said, “As we conclude the 2024 summer internship program, we are proud to witness the experience and knowledge gained by the students. Al-Mathkoor added, “As an enabler of digital transformation, we believe that it is essential to educate the younger generation on the benefits tied to the adoption and implementation of digital technologies to translate business processes. That is why we are diligent in structuring our internship programs in a way that provides hands-on experience as well as knowledge building tasks and initiatives. Having said that, we will continue introducing programs tailored to the younger generation as part of our sustainability program and commitment to support the community.”

stc's internship programs are open to university students and recent graduates who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and a strong commitment to personal and professional development. The programs provide participants with an opportunity to enhance their competencies, develop effective time management skills, and gain a superior understanding of the job environment. Upon successful completion of the program, interns may have the opportunity to pursue permanent career positions based on their performance.
