Strong 5.3 earthquake strikes near Pakistan’s capital, no casualties reported

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, April 12: A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, at approximately 1 PM on Saturday, as confirmed by the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. The tremors were strongly felt in several areas, including parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Local media reports indicate that no damage or casualties were reported in Pakistan’s capital following the earthquake, although further details are still awaited.

Earlier in the day, two smaller earthquakes were also recorded in the region. A magnitude 4.2 quake struck Tajikistan at 12:24 IST, followed by a 3.3-magnitude tremor in Pakistan at 11:55 IST.
