ISLAMABAD, April 24: On Monday, Pakistani authorities reported that a suicide attack on a police station in the northern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had resulted in the deaths of 12 policemen and left 55 others wounded. According to initial reports from the police, unidentified gunmen began firing before a second explosion occurred just seconds later.

Shafiullah Gandapur, an official from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province police, stated that the attack took place inside the headquarters of the police station, which also houses the Anti-Terrorism Department. The police station is located in the Kabal district in the Swat Valley of the province.

In response to the attack, Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif issued a statement strongly condemning it and expressing his condolences for the loss of life, while also directing authorities to provide all possible medical assistance to the injured. He has also requested a report on the incident from the relevant authorities.
