KUWAIT CITY, Feb 21: The semifinals of the sixteenth edition of the Super Cup competition are scheduled for today. At 4:45 pm, Al-Qadisiya will face Al-Kuwait at Sabah Al-Salem Stadium, while Al-Arabi will take on Kazma at 7:45 pm at Mohamed Al-Hamad Stadium.

This season marks a departure from the traditional format of the Super Cup, as it introduces a new system featuring four teams: the champions of the League and the Crown Prince’s Cup, along with selected league teams based on their standings. This is a departure from the previous format, which involved a single match between the league and Crown Prince’s Cup champions.

In terms of historical achievements, only three clubs have clinched the Super Cup title. Kuwait Club and Al-Qadisiya share the record with six titles each, while Al-Arabi has won it three times. The fourth team in today's match, Kazma, is yet to secure a title, despite its previous participations.Kuwait Club holds the record for the most appearances in the Super Cup match with 13 times, followed by Al-Qadisiya with 11 appearances. Al-Arabi and Kazma have played four and two times, respectively.

The first match features defending champions Kuwait, aiming to retain their title after a 2-1 victory over Kazma in the previous edition. Al-Qadisiya, on the other hand, seeks redemption and hopes to secure its first local title in five seasons. The team is eager to showcase a strong performance and reconcile with its fans after recent setbacks in the league.

In the second confrontation, league leaders Al-Arabi face Kazma, aiming to continue their positive streak after a convincing 4-0 win in the league's earlier stage. Kazma, currently in seventh place in the league, is looking for a victory to restore its reputation and boost morale ahead of the upcoming league match against Al-Arabi on March 8th.
