Supreme Traffic Council holds meeting to address traffic congestion ahead of new academic year
Lieutenant General Sheikh Salem Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Traffic Council chairs the meeting to tackle traffic congestion ahead of the start of schools.

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 4: Lieutenant General Sheikh Salem Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Traffic Council, presided over the 22nd meeting of the Supreme Traffic Council on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. The meeting was attended by members from various ministries and agencies concerned with traffic management.

Lieutenant General Sheikh Salem Nawaf welcomed the attendees and relayed greetings and appreciation from His Excellency the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah. Sheikh Fahd expressed his hopes for the Council members' success and encouraged them to continue working on effective solutions to traffic congestion, particularly with the onset of the new academic year 2024-2025.

The meeting covered several agenda items, including the ministries' preparations for the upcoming academic year and plans for an awareness campaign. The campaign will involve collaboration between the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Information, and the Ministry of Education throughout the school year.

A visual presentation by the General Traffic Department outlined the traffic management strategy, which includes developing proactive solutions for anticipated congestion around schools. The presentation detailed plans to deploy additional personnel, patrols, and motorcycles to high-traffic areas and schools. The strategy also includes coverage of important locations and coordination with emergency police, public security, and other relevant sectors within the Ministry of Interior.
