Surveillance cameras made mandatory in educational institutions for people with disabilities

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: Today, Saturday, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, the Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, directed the Public Authority for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities to issue a mandate requiring all educational and rehabilitation entities under its jurisdiction to install surveillance cameras in classrooms.

In a press statement, Minister Al-Huwailah emphasized that this decision aims to enhance monitoring of the educational environment, ensuring necessary protection and safety for students. The installation of cameras is intended to provide reassurance to both teachers and parents regarding the well-being of their children.

The Minister also highlighted that the initiative seeks to foster transparency and accountability within educational and rehabilitation institutions for individuals with disabilities. She stressed the importance of ensuring that all installed cameras adhere to the standards established by the Authority while maintaining the necessary privacy protections.

This step is part of ongoing efforts to improve educational quality and create a safe and healthy environment for students with disabilities in all educational and rehabilitation settings.
