Swiss Club wins Salwa Al-Sabah international women's volleyball championship

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 6: The women's volleyball team of the Swiss Geneva Club claimed the title of the second international championship of the Salwa Al-Sabah Volleyball Club after defeating the host team, Salwa Al-Sabah, in the final with a commanding 3-0 victory.

Lebanon's Al-Shabiba Al-Bouchrieh secured third place after overcoming the Tunisian team with the same score in the third-place playoff.

The Iraqi Akkad Ankoa finished fifth, followed by the Emirati Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy in sixth, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ola Club in seventh, and the Qatari team in eighth.

Held under the patronage of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governor Sheikh Sabah Badr Al-Sabah, the championship concluded with a closing ceremony attended by Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad, President of Salwa Al-Sabah Club, along with Board of Directors members. Also present at the final match were Dr. Jaber Al-Marri, President of the Kuwaiti Volleyball Federation, Assistant Secretary-General Nayef Al-Khamili, members of the Swiss Embassy’s diplomatic corps in Kuwait, and representatives of the participating delegations.

Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad praised the high technical level displayed, particularly in the semi-finals and final, highlighting the championship’s success both in organization and competition. She emphasized the importance of hosting such international events, noting the strong participation from Kuwaiti, Gulf, Arab, and international teams.

She expressed her gratitude to the participating teams, the Kuwait Volleyball Federation, and all organizing committees for their contributions to the tournament’s success.

Dr. Jaber Al-Marri echoed these sentiments, stating that the championship was a success even before it began, thanks to the meticulous organization of the Salwa Al-Sabah Club. He emphasized the Federation’s commitment to developing women's volleyball at the club level and fostering an environment that enables players to excel and represent Kuwait on the international stage.
