Syrian Brothers Accused of Forging Kuwaiti Citizenship for KD 10,000 Each
Kuwait to revoke citizenship in 90 cases following Nationality Law review.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 14: In a case of forgery dating back to the 1970s, two Syrian brothers are accused of illegally obtaining Kuwaiti citizenship by being added to the nationality files of two deceased Kuwaiti citizens in exchange for KD 10,000 each. According to investigations, their father facilitated the scheme by paying one citizen to add one brother to his file, while the other brother was added to a different citizen's file for the same amount.

Using their forged Kuwaiti citizenship, the brothers accessed free education, employment, and other benefits, subsequently building their families and careers in Kuwait. However, the Nationality Investigations Department uncovered the fraud and arrested one of the brothers, while the other fled the country. Both families have been referred to the Public Prosecution, and authorities are working to revoke their Kuwaiti citizenship.

The First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Youssef commended the efforts of the General Department of Nationality and the Nationality Investigations Department for their diligence in uncovering the case. Investigations are ongoing to ensure accountability in this forgery incident.
