T2 to help accommodate rise in air traffic

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan reaffirmed her commitment to advancing the country’s air transport infrastructure by implementing the highest international standards in civil aviation. During a periodic meeting with representatives of the government agencies involved in the new airport terminal T2 project including the representative of the Government Performance Follow-up Agency and Acting Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Duaij Al-Otaibi, the minister revealed that they agreed on the need to ensure the project is completed promptly and within the established schedule as specified in the contract. Dr. Al-Mashaan said, “The ministry is working diligently and collaboratively to ensure the completion of the new T2 passenger terminal, which will significantly enhance the passenger experience and expand our capacity to handle the anticipated increase in air traffic.”

She stressed that the new airport project reflects the commitment to developing the civil aviation sector and its vital role in supporting the country’s economic growth. After the meeting, Dr. Al-Mashaan emphasized the importance of coordination to resolve outstanding issues and overcome obstacles to ensure the project’s timely completion. She explained that the meeting held discussions concerning DGCA’s Letter No. 7/10261, and reviewed the latest developments regarding telecommunications companies and coordination efforts for phase 3. Discussions were also held concerning the roads leading to Kuwait International Airport, with the need to pay attention to address potential obstacles that passengers may face upon arriving at the airport.

The minister stated that the new passenger terminal project is a key part of the ambitious national projects to develop and modernize the country’s infrastructure, in line with the New Kuwait 2035 vision, and to transform Kuwait into a regional and global financial and commercial hub that attracts investment.

Al-Mishaan affirmed the government’s keenness to harness all available resources and facilities to complete the airport project on schedule. Dr. Al-Mashaan said, “Kuwait deserves our collective effort and unity. We must cooperate with all parties and work as one team to advance projects and services that will enhance Kuwait’s standing and prominence in various fields.”
