KUWAIT CITY, Feb 15: The Environmental Affairs Committee at the Municipal Council, headed by Alia Al-Farsi, on Thursday held its fourth meeting for the third session. The executive bodies of the Kuwait Municipality, Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Health, Environment Public Authority (EPA), Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) and Ministry of Interior attended the meeting. After a lengthy discussion, the committee decided to postpone talks on two out of four items in its agenda -- the proposal of member Sherifa Al-Shalfan to recycle plastic bottles with caps and the minutes of the first workshop of the committee for the second session held on Sept 21, 2023.
In addition, the committee was informed about the request of the Green Wall of Kuwait Association to collaborate with the council and the minutes of its second workshop for the third session held on Nov 2, 2024 regarding the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh environmental system. The committee also confirmed that it is currently coordinating with government agencies, civil society institutions, and other concerned entities to address the deteriorating conditions in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. It scheduled a visit to the area on Feb 19 to assess the implementation of regulations related to cleanliness and the control of stray animals. This visit is the first step in implementing the eight recommendations of the committee that were approved by Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Abdullatif Al-Mishari in January.
