KUWAIT CITY, Oct 23: A tanker reported being struck by an unknown projectile while sailing outbound through the Strait of Hormuz, about seven nautical miles northeast of Limah, Oman, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

The incident occurred at 1715 UTC on Oct 22, 2026, according to a delayed report received by UKMTO from the vessel’s Company Security Officer.

The tanker was able to continue its voyage to its next port of call. The report did not specify the extent of any damage or whether anyone was injured.

UKMTO advised vessels transiting the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity as authorities investigate the incident.

The incident adds to security concerns surrounding commercial shipping in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil and gas shipments.
