RIYADH, Oct 17: A tanker was struck by an unknown projectile approximately 68 nautical miles northeast of Jubail, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said Saturday.
UKMTO reported that all crew members were safe and had been evacuated following the incident.
No environmental impact was reported, the maritime security agency said.
The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the origin of the projectile and the extent of any damage to the vessel, were not immediately disclosed.
The incident adds to maritime security concerns in the Gulf region, where commercial shipping routes remain strategically important for global energy supplies.
