Team Rakkama wins IBAK championship

Winners celebrate with their trophies at the end of the tournament.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 5: It’s always fun to compete with your colleagues. They teach you more with their skills and talents in a much comfortable mode. The Indian Badminton Association – Kuwait; IBAK conducted its “Intra IBAK Badminton Tournament 2024” on 25th & 26th January 2024. IBAK salwa stadium was feeling the heat on the courts where the best friends competed against each other and clinched titles. It was an amazing treat for the spectators who were more than 200.

The tournament was hosted in Seven categories as follows: Flight 1 Professional Doubles, Flight 2 Advance Doubles, Flight 3 Intermediate Doubles (Open of All), Flight 4 Lower Intermediate Doubles (Open of All), Ladies Doubles, Under-15 Boys Doubles, Under-15 Mix Doubles.

All the players were thoroughly scrutinized and categorized based on their skills and talents shown on courts during their daily practice sessions. All the categorized players were grouped into 6 teams as follows: Team Ranchitame, Team Tatta Tattara, Team Olluleru, Team Rakama, Team Paalapalli, Team Dhinka Chikka – These names are given to the team inspired by famous Indian songs.The overall championship trophy was presented to Team Rakkama. The runner up trophy was shared between Team Ranchitame & Team Paalapalli.

IBAK chairman Dr. Manimara Chozhan congratulated all the participants of the Intra IBAK tournament. IBAK had kick started the year 2024 with a successful Intra IBAK tournament and published the calendar of various tournaments that will be conducted by IBAK.

Ladies Doubles
Winner: Subin Angel and Muthukrishnan Sathya; Runner-up: Tony Angela and Sarah Ephrem Siby
Semi-Finalist 1: Antony Delecta and Varghese Sneha; Semi-Finalist 2: Syed Mubeena and James Olivia.

Flight 1 – Professional Men’s Doubles
Winner: Ezzi Hisham and Thomas Relin; Runner-up — Contractor Faheem and Varghese Subin; Semi-Finalist 1 — Dr.Manimara Chozhan and Ramachandran Suresh; Semi-Finalist 2 — Shaik Areef and M.C Arun

Flight 2 – Advance Men’s Doubles
Winner: Rajan Binoy and Varghese Subin; Runner-up — Shaik Areef and M.C Arun; Semi-Finalist 1 — Varghese Ajay and Puthenveedu Ismail; Semi-Finalist 2 — Manual Justin and Pratap Kumar M

Flight 3 – Intermediate Doubles (Open to all)
Winner: Sadiq Muhammed and Hameed Naji; Runner-up: Manimaran Skandhan and Bharaskar Varad;
Semi-Finalist 1: Karunakaran Dilip and Paul Nithin; Semi-Finalist 2: Kandhasamy Muthukrishnan and Chander Pranavesh

Flight 4 – Lower Intermediate (Open to All)
Winner: Mathews Basil and Baiju Sion; Runner-up: Tk Sajifal and Swamy Sanjeev; Semi-Finalist 1: T Akber and Amy Amy; Semi-Finalist 2: Syed Mubeena and Shaik Rayyan

Under-15 Boys Doubles:
Winner: James Chris and Lobo Ranston Antony; Runner-up: Mathews Basil and Titto Liyanfen; Semi-Finalist 1: Praddep Advay and Swamy Sanjeev; Semi-Finalist 2: Hariharan Jayaraj and Baiju Sion

Under-15 Mix Doubles:
Winner: Subin Angel and Shawn Santhosh Alan; Runner-up: Tony Angela and Titto Liyanfen; Semi-Finalist 1: Gunnd Prajal and Hariharan Jayaraj; Semi-Finalist 2: James Olivia and James Chris
