WASHINGTON, Feb 4, (Agencies): In Denver, Colorado, a 13-year-old boy was taken into custody this week following an alleged fatal shooting of a 60-year-old man on a bus. The incident stemmed from a disagreement over the man's "leg blocking the aisle," according to authorities.

The Denver Police Department (DPD) reported on Friday that the unidentified teen was arrested for the shooting that occurred on January 27 at the intersection of South Federal Boulevard and West Mississippi Avenue around 6:41 p.m. local time. The investigation revealed a "verbal exchange between the suspect and victim about the victim's leg blocking the aisle on the bus, and the suspect then shot the victim."

After the shooting, the victim, identified as grandfather Richard Sanchez, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Another individual suffered a "minor injury" but did not require hospitalization.

The teenager is currently held for Investigation of First-Degree Murder, with an ongoing investigation. The Denver District Attorney's Office will determine the final charges.

A spokesperson for the DA's office mentioned on Saturday that there is "no update yet" regarding charges.

The tragic incident unfolded on a Regional Transportation District (RTD) bus, and the RTD did not provide further details.

Joseph Chavez, Sanchez's grandson, expressed his disbelief and sorrow at the scene, describing his grandfather as a "really happy dude." Chavez shared his heartbreak, stating, “I was really heartbroken, honestly.”

Sanchez's family revealed that they learned about his death when they reported him missing to the police days later. Chavez expressed frustration, saying, "I don’t understand how someone could do that to such an honest person. It’s been hard because we didn’t know where he was at, and the whole time, he was at the hospital and they didn’t contact us." He added, "Nobody was there with him during his last breath.”
