NEW DELHI, Jan 14, (Agencies): Delhi on Sunday recorded its coldest morning this winter season, with the minimum temperature dropping to 3.5 degrees Celsius. The mercury dipped even lower in the Lodhi Road area to 3.4 degrees Celsius.
A thick blanket of fog covered most parts of Delhi-NCR with visibility on the roads reduced to zero in several cities as IMD warns of dense fog and cold wave conditions in multiple states.
Around 22 trains to Delhi from various parts of the country were running late, and several flight operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport were also affected due to dense fog conditions.
Dense fog has gripped several northern and eastern states of India, severely impacting visibility and prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue weather warnings. Very dense fog was observed in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Bihar, and East Uttar Pradesh, according to the meteorological department.
