Kuwait Club volleyball team seeks opening win.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 13: The Federation Volleyball Championship, the first tournament of the season, kicks off with two exciting matches. Kuwait Club will face Al-Nasr at 5:00 pm, followed by a match between Burgan and Al-Sulaibikhat at 7:00 pm. Both games will take place at the Federation Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Halls Complex. Tomorrow, the first round will conclude with Al-Qadsiya playing Al-Shabab at 5:00 pm and Kazma taking on Al-Yarmouk at 7:00 pm, also in the same venue.

The Federation Volleyball Championship began after the conclusion of Kuwait’s participation in the Arab Championship, where it secured sixth place.

Nine clubs are competing in the Federation Championship: Kuwait Club, Al-Qadsiya, Al-Arabi, Kazma, Al-Nasr, Al-Sulaibikhat, Burgan, Al-Shabab, and Yarmouk. The tournament follows a single-round league format, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals. The first team will face the fourth, while the second meets the third. The winners of these semi-finals will move on to the final match.

In the opening match, Kuwait Club is favored to win against Al-Nasr, which returns to competition after a long absence. Kuwait Club boasts a strong squad led by Turkish coach Taner Atik, and the team has strengthened with Cuban players Fernando Hernandez and Brazilian Rafael Vieira, both of whom played in the recent Asian Championship in Iran. The second match between Burgan and Al-Sulaibikhat is expected to be closely contested, as both teams are similar in skill level.
