NEW DELHI, Dec 10: Four days following the fatal shooting of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the president of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, the alleged perpetrators, Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji, were apprehended in Chandigarh on Saturday. Accompanying them was Udham Singh, an associate accused of providing logistical support for their escape from law enforcement.

To evade capture, Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji traversed four states within four days, employing counterfeit identification to check into the Chandigarh hotel where they were ultimately arrested.

COMPLETE ESCAPE ROUTE -- Ravindra Yadav, the Special Commissioner of Delhi Police (Crime), informed news agency PTI that the authorities initiated tracking of the assailants immediately after they committed the murder of Gogamedi at his Jaipur residence on December 5.

According to information shared by Rajasthan ADG (Crime) Dinesh MN, following the incident in Jaipur, Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji utilized a taxi to reach Didwana. Subsequently, they boarded a bus to Delhi.

Upon arriving in Dharuhera, Haryana, the duo disembarked and took an autorickshaw to reach Rewari railway station. From there, they boarded a train to Hisar, as explained by Yadav.

CCTV footage captured Nitin Fauji and Rohit Rathore at the Hisar railway station on December 6, leading to their eventual apprehension.

The pair then encountered Udham Singh, who aided them in evading the authorities. Police sources revealed that Nitin Fauji and Singh had formed a connection during their joint training in the Indian Army at the same facility four years ago.

Assisted by Singh, the duo hired a taxi bound for Manali in Himachal Pradesh, where they sojourned for a brief one or two days before returning to Chandigarh on December 9. Employing fabricated Aadhar cards under the names of Devender, Jaiveer, and Sukhbir, the trio secured accommodations at Hotel Kamal Palace in Chandigarh.

Acting on a tip about the trio's whereabouts, a joint team from Delhi Police Crime Branch and Rajasthan Police converged on the hotel, effecting the arrest of all three on Saturday. Rohit and Udham were transported to Delhi by Delhi Police, while Nitin Fauji remained in the custody of the Rajasthan Police. Subsequently, Rohit and Udham were also taken to Jaipur on Sunday.

As per a PTI report, the three had allegedly devised plans to journey to Goa from Chandigarh and extend their travels further into South India.

REVELATION OF ASSASSINATION CONSPIRACY -- In the course of police questioning, Nitin Fauji admitted to the execution of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi's murder under the directives of Rohit Godara, a notorious wanted criminal and arms dealer in Rajasthan, along with his close associate Virendra Charan.

In exchange for his involvement in the assassination, they assured Fauji of facilitating a counterfeit passport and a Canadian visa. Fauji, who was on the run from the police since he fired at a Haryana Police team in November, succumbed to their proposal.

Rohit Godara, affiliated with the Lawrence-Goldy Brar gang, publicly claimed responsibility for Gogamedi's killing shortly after the incident through a Facebook post.

According to sources cited by PTI, Rathore and Fauji had devised plans to escape the country, being allegedly promised Rs 50,000 each for carrying out Gogamedi's assassination. They were instructed to maintain a low profile until they obtained the assured passports and visas.

The police disclosed that Rohit Rathore had a history of criminal activities and had previously served time in jail.
