KUWAIT CITY, Dec 15: The inaugural edition of the "EQUICIETY" Dressage Championship concluded successfully at the Kuwait Equestrian Center, showcasing intense competition among riders. This first-of-its-kind event in Kuwait attracted a significantly larger participation compared to when the sport debuted three years ago.
Knight Saad Al-Mutairi claimed the top spot with 72.59 points, followed by Suleiman Baqer, Hamad Al-Azmi, Maryam Bahrami, Rowan Al-Kandari, and Fatima Al-Khamis.
Dalal Al-Sharhan excelled with a score of 68.41 points, taking first place. She was followed by Dalal Al-Haqoul, Dalal Al-Sharhan (on a second horse), Maryam Bahrami, and Gabor Sejidi.
The Light Level featured a fierce rivalry between Talal Al-Hazeem and Hussein Al-Kharafi. Al-Kharafi topped the first round with 68.16 points, while Al-Hazeem secured second and third places. In the second round, Talal Al-Hazeem shone with two horses, earning first place with SILVIO and second with BLACKOUT, as Al-Kharafi did not participate in this round.
The winners were crowned by Sheikh Sabah Mubarak Al-Sabah and Sheikha Fajer Bader Al-Sabah.
Sheikh Sabah Mubarak praised the championship for fostering strong competition among riders and expressed gratitude to Sheikha Fajer Bader Al-Sabah for her dedication to promoting dressage in Kuwait.
Sheikha Fajer Bader Al-Sabah emphasized that the "EQUICIETY" Championship will become an annual event, supported by the Kuwait Equestrian Federation and evaluated by international judges. She reflected on the journey of horse taming in Kuwait, stating, “With the backing of Sheikh Sabah Mubarak Al-Sabah, we’ve successfully organized several tournaments, turning our dream of popularizing dressage in Kuwait into reality.”
This landmark event sets the stage for the continued growth of dressage in the region.
