The world witnessed yesterday that the Moroccan King is well

The scene of King Mohammed VI arriving to greet the French President conveyed several important messages to both local and international audiences. The most important message among them was to dispel rumors regarding the King’s health. These rumors, which were circulated by certain media outlets outside Morocco, were intended to undermine Rabat’s significant influence in the Arab world particularly in Africa.

The second of these messages targeted Europe in response to attempts, especially from France, to exert pressure on Morocco, following a period of heightened tensions in relations between the two countries throughout the past two years. However, Morocco’s firm stance compelled France to abandon its attempts to exert pressure, as evidenced by French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit.

This visit symbolized a reconciliation between Rabat and Paris, effectively turning the page on the differences that some countries sought to exacerbate to undermine Morocco’s role in Africa It is important to note that Paris, like other European capitals, understands that its access to Africa hinges on its relationship with Rabat. To restore its presence in a region that is rich in both minerals and human resources, France cannot afford to deviate from this path. On the local front, Moroccans are accustomed to the King’s frequent travels throughout the nation, so the recent rumors did cause some anxiety.

However, the smart way to address these concerns is by hosting a significant event. The Moroccan people were reassured by the King’s appearance in full health and vigor during the reception of his esteemed guest, especially since he was involved in discussions on various important matters that Paris aims to pursue in Morocco. While the agreements primarily focused on energy, water, education, and internal security, the extensive discussions about Morocco’s potential as a leading Arab-African state highlighted France’s reliance on it, which set the stage for the resumption of various projects. Moreover, it is well known among Moroccans that the King personally oversees these issues, particularly those related to infrastructure.

For more than a decade, Morocco emerged as a central hub for investments after partnering with several major industries, particularly in automotive manufacturing, some of which export to Europe. Previously, Rabat relied on importing these products from the old continent or other industries. This shift is significant for the African continent, which seeks to reduce its huge import bill that depletes much of its income.

Similarly, Europe is looking to open doors to alleviate its ongoing crises. It is important to acknowledge that King Mohammed VI has demonstrated wisdom and prudence in navigating crises calmly.

This approach has contributed to enhancing Morocco’s philanthropic efforts in many African countries and beyond. So here we are ... Rabat has begun to reap the rewards, both through investments in various sectors and by transforming the entire country into a sought-after tourist destination. Its security and stability, along with the welcoming nature of its people, make it an attractive haven.

Throughout the past decades, Morocco has proven its keenness about Arab relations, particularly Gulf relations. This commitment reflects Morocco’s desire to stand on par with its brothers, driven by the belief that Pan-Arabism should be realized in practice, not just in words. While some may attempt to misrepresent Rabat’s positive image, such efforts often backfire, causing more harm to themselves than to Morocco. The book’s title aptly reflects its rightful owner - a king by the name of Mohammed VI.
