KUWAIT CITY, March 24: In a successful qualitative operation, the General Administration of Coast Guard dealt a significant blow to drug smuggling attempts, foiling an operation to smuggle narcotics into the country through its territorial waters. The operation led to the seizure of a large quantity of illegal substances and the arrest of three individuals of Iranian nationality involved in the smuggling attempt.
Authorities confiscated approximately 125 kilograms of hashish, 9 hashish sticks, 8 strips of Lyrica, and 5 bags of Captagon pills from the suspects. The seized contraband has an estimated market value of around 500,000 Kuwaiti dinars.
The security operation was initiated after the Coast Guard's advanced radar system detected a suspicious boat entering Kuwaiti territorial waters. Patrols were swiftly deployed to intercept the vessel, which was surrounded and stopped. The three Iranian nationals on board were apprehended in possession of the illegal substances. The suspects and the seized items have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal action.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed that the Coast Guard serves as a robust security shield, safeguarding Kuwait's territorial waters and preventing any attempts to smuggle contraband. The Ministry emphasized that any threat to Kuwait's security will be met with unwavering resolve and that the nation's security forces remain vigilant and fully prepared at all times to protect the country's stability and safety.
