Tomooh Club heads to Cairo for 5th Heliopolis International Championship

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 18: The Tomooh Club delegation for Intellectual Disabilities departed for Cairo to participate in the 5th Heliopolis International Championship, taking place from September 19 to 21. The event features swimming, equestrian, table tennis, and athletics for all age groups, with participation from Gulf and Arab nations.

Fahad Al-Sahli, the club's assistant secretary and head of the delegation, announced that the club will compete in athletics and table tennis with three athletes over the age of 21: Mohsen Al-Mashmoum and Hassan Al-Mutawa will participate in both table tennis and athletics (100m and 200m races), while Mohammed Al-Otaibi will compete in athletics (100m and 200m races).

Al-Sahli emphasized the club's commitment to participating in international events to provide athletes with opportunities to engage in competition, sharpen their skills, and enhance their social roles in the community.

He also highlighted that this delegation includes players making their international debuts, aiming to boost their confidence and prepare them for future competitions, to build a strong foundation of champions in sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Club coach Bilal Al-Hamami confirmed the team's readiness following the completion of an intensive training program that began in mid-August. He noted the players' excitement and dedication, expressing optimism about achieving success in the tournament.
