KUWAIT CITY, April 9: There were no surprises in the Premier Handball League as the second round of the First Division concluded the day before yesterday at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex. The top contenders continued their winning streaks, solidifying their positions at the top of the table.
Kuwait Club cruised past Salmiya with a commanding 34-24 victory, while Burgan secured a 35-28 win over Al-Arabi. Kazma edged out Sulaibikhat in a tightly contested match, winning 34-32.
These victories mirrored the results from the opening round, further reinforcing the readiness of Kuwait Club, Burgan, and Kazma to compete seriously for the league title.
Kuwait Club sits at the summit of the standings with 30 points, followed by Burgan with 25 points—edging Kazma into third place on goal difference. Al-Arabi remains on 18 points, while Salmiya holds 16 points, also ahead of Sulaibikhat on goal difference.
The third round of First Division matches is set for tomorrow and features a crucial clash between title challengers Burgan and Kazma. Kuwait Club will face Al-Arabi, while Salmiya takes on Sulaibikhat in another exciting fixture.
The First Division League continues at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. Fahaheel will meet Al-Sahel at 5:00 pm, followed by a matchup between Al-Qurain and Khaitan at 6:30 PM.
Al-Nasr currently leads the league table with 16 points, tied with Al-Qadsiya but ahead on goal difference. Al-Qurain sits third with 14 points, followed by Fahaheel (10), Khaitan (8), Al-Tadamon (3), Yarmouk (2), and Al-Sahel, who are still searching for their first point.
