KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Anwar Al-Hamdan, has issued a decision to open the door for transfer for an exceptional period from public schools to private (Arabic) schools and vice versa, starting from Sunday, February 4, until the end of work on Thursday, Feb 29, for kindergarten, primary and middle school students. Those enrolled in grades one to nine, subject to the same conditions and regulations.
According to the decision, a copy of which was obtained by Al-Rai, it “allows the transfer of secondary school students enrolled in grades ten to twelfth from Arab private (private) education schools, to general education schools only on the condition that they match the free choice subjects.”
The decision added, “It is prohibited to transfer secondary school students enrolled in grades ten to twelfth, from general education schools to private (private) Arab education schools,” noting that “transfer shall be according to the vacancies available in the educational district, and all concerned parties must be aware and work in accordance with this.” The decision is effective from February 4, 2024.”
In a related context, the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education, Hessa Al-Mutawa, confirmed that the Ministry is moving to activate and open learner care centers in educational areas during the upcoming second semester.
This came after she chaired yesterday the meeting of the Council of General Directors, in the presence of the directors and principals of educational districts and the director of the Coordination Department, in the meeting room of the Ministry of Education. She said that during the meeting, a group of important educational issues were discussed, such as the timing of school hours in the upcoming month of Ramadan.
