Trump Rejects Reports of US Munitions Shortage, Warns of Jail for Leakers

WASHINGTON, Aug 6: US President Donald Trump has dismissed reports claiming the United States is facing shortages of key military munitions, insisting the country has "massive" stockpiles and is continuing to expand weapons production.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the US has abundant supplies of munitions, particularly certain types, and that additional quantities are being manufactured and shipped as needed. He also claimed that defense companies are building the largest number of plants and factories in the nation's history.

Trump further warned that those responsible for leaking what he described as "treasonous statements" about US military stockpiles were being identified and would face lengthy prison sentences.

His remarks came after several US media reports suggested dwindling interceptor missile inventories influenced the administration's decision to delay additional military strikes on Iran. The Washington Post also reported that Trump questioned Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth during a Cabinet meeting at Camp David over alleged munitions shortages that had limited military options against Iran.

However, both the White House and the Pentagon denied the reports, maintaining that US military readiness and munitions supplies remain sufficient.
