Trump Revokes Security Clearances for Biden, Harris, and Key Political Rivals
US President Donald Trump

WASHINGTON, March 22: Late Friday, President Donald Trump issued a presidential memo rescinding security clearances for Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and several prominent Democrats and political adversaries.

"I have determined that it is no longer in the national interest for the following individuals to access classified information," Trump declared.

The memo listed 15 individuals, including Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, former Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger, and New York Attorney General Letitia James—who previously prosecuted Trump for fraud. Biden’s entire family was also included in the directive.

It remains unclear whether all those named held formal security clearances. Trump had already signaled his intention to revoke Biden's clearance in February. National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard confirmed on March 10 that she had already rescinded access for Blinken, James, and others following Trump's orders.

This move mirrors Biden's 2021 decision to block Trump from accessing classified information, citing concerns over his "erratic behavior." Traditionally, former presidents are granted intelligence briefings as a courtesy, though they do not hold official clearances.

Trump's memo further instructed executive department and agency heads to "revoke unescorted access to secure United States Government facilities" for those named. It also prohibited individuals from accessing classified information derived from their previous roles in Congress.

Earlier this week, Trump announced he was ending Secret Service protection for Biden's children, Hunter and Ashley, "effective immediately." Critics viewed the decision as a retaliatory move against his political opponents.
