Two arrests made following precise intelligence on 51kgs of drugs being smuggled by sea

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 12: The Ministry of Interior has announced that the General Administration of Coast Guard, in collaboration with the General Administration for Drug Control, successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 51 kilograms of narcotic substances. Two individuals attempted to smuggle these drugs into the country, with an estimated market value of approximately 150,000 Kuwaiti Dinars (around 489,000 dollars).

In a press statement, the ministry indicated that precise information was received regarding the attempt to smuggle these substances through the territorial waters. A joint security team was formed from the Marine Security Department and the Local Drug Control Department to monitor and track these movements.

The ministry added that thanks to intensive security efforts and thorough investigations, two individuals involved in the attempt to smuggle the narcotics for distribution within the country were apprehended. The suspects and the seized materials were referred to the relevant authorities to take the necessary legal action.

The ministry affirmed that this operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat the drug epidemic, protect society, and enhance security cooperation among the concerned authorities to apprehend drug traffickers and dealers.
