KUWAIT CITY, Dec 11: The Ministry of Interior has announced the arrest of two officers involved in a bribery scheme at the Nuwaiseeb port, where they falsified entry and exit records in exchange for money.
According to a statement issued by the Security Media Department on Wednesday, investigations by the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department of Criminal Investigations at Nuwaiseeb Port, uncovered an agreement between the two police officers to execute fictitious transactions in exchange for monetary bribes. Each fake transaction was reportedly worth 100 Kuwaiti dinars.
The Ministry's security follow-up revealed that the two individuals manipulated computer systems to record false entry and exit data for financial gain. Following the necessary legal investigations and obtaining the required permits, the two officers were apprehended. During questioning, they confessed to the details of their actions, including their agreement to accept bribes in exchange for conducting the fraudulent activities.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that legal actions have been taken against the individuals, and they have been referred to the appropriate authorities. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to upholding the rule of law, combating all forms of corruption, and ensuring justice and the integrity of security operations.
