KUWAIT CITY, Nov 9: The UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is set to make a historic visit to Kuwait this Sunday, underscoring the robust relationship between Kuwait and the UAE. UAE Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Matar Al-Neyadi highlighted that this visit comes at the invitation of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Ambassador Al-Neyadi conveyed Sheikh Mohammed's remarks on the depth of Kuwaiti-Emirati relations, describing them as "historic and profound, founded on mutual respect and understanding." The UAE President also emphasized the ongoing commitment of both nations to advance cooperation and bolster joint efforts within the GCC framework.

Reflecting on the strong cultural and historical bonds, Al-Neyadi recalled the statement by UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who affirmed Kuwait's cherished place within the Emirati national consciousness.

This visit follows the recent fifth meeting of the Joint Kuwaiti-Emirati Supreme Committee, where both nations signed agreements covering diverse areas such as double taxation, defense, infrastructure, cybersecurity, environmental protection, and information technology.

Throughout 2024, senior officials from both nations engaged in reciprocal visits, including those of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal, Dubai Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, and Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah.

Additionally, trade relations have continued to flourish, with trade exchange reaching AED 36 billion (approximately KD 3 billion) in Q3 2024. Ambassador Al-Neyadi noted that the UAE is Kuwait's second-largest global trading partner, while Kuwait ranks as the UAE’s 12th. Currently, the UAE accounts for 55 percent of Kuwait’s trade within the Gulf region.

Tourism between the two nations is also vibrant, supported by 162 weekly flights between Kuwait and the UAE, facilitating cultural exchange and economic engagement.

This visit is expected to further strengthen the historic bonds between Kuwait and the UAE, deepening cooperation in multiple spheres.
