KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: The British Ambassador to Kuwait, Belinda Lewis, reflected on Tuesday on the wise and humanitarian leadership of the late Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. In an interview with KUNA, Ambassador Lewis highlighted the profound impact of the deceased leader, particularly in the humanitarian field, describing it as a guiding light for charitable efforts globally. She conveyed condolences on behalf of the embassy, the British government, and the various British communities to the people of Kuwait, the leadership, and the government, expressing deep sorrow over the significant loss.
Ambassador Lewis emphasized the late Amir's substantial contributions to alleviating the suffering of communities worldwide affected by natural disasters, such as earthquakes and floods. She also acknowledged his stance on granting amnesty to convicts. Stressing the robust bilateral and historical relations between Kuwait and Britain, Ambassador Lewis noted the continuous growth at all levels, particularly in trade exchange and mutual investment. The economic exchange between the two countries, she mentioned, has reached USD five billion and continues to rise.
She highlighted the significant boost in mutual investments following the signing of a strategic investment partnership last August. Ambassador Lewis pointed out that visits by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, during his time as Crown Prince, underscored the strength of the bilateral relations that unite the leadership, government, and people of Kuwait and Britain, describing them as exceptionally strong.
Regarding the presence of the Crown Prince of the United Kingdom, the Prince of Wales, Prince William, and the British Foreign Minister David Cameron personally offering condolences to His Highness the Amir, Ambassador Lewis viewed it as a testament to the close and solid relations between the two countries. She extended her best wishes for success to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, expressing optimism that the pace of cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries will endure for many years to come.
