Delta Boeing aircraft grounded as nose tire unseats on runway.

NEW YORK, Jan 24: In an unexpected turn of events, a Delta Air Lines flight, operated on a Boeing 757 aircraft, experienced a nose tire malfunction just moments before its scheduled departure from Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport this Saturday. Details of the incident were revealed through air traffic control audio posted online.

As the Delta Boeing 757 was given clearance for takeoff and began taxiing on the runway, one of the nose wheels unexpectedly detached, rolling off the runway and descending an embankment. The incident was captured in air traffic control audio shared by VASAviation.

A pilot from a trailing aircraft reported the issue, stating, "The 75 on the runway just lost the nose tire." The 757 pilot responded, acknowledging the problem. The exchange revealed that the detached tire had rolled off the runway to the south, prompting discussions between pilots and air traffic control about dispatching a maintenance crew to locate the missing tire.

While waiting for the maintenance crew to arrive, other aircraft preparing for takeoff were forced to wait behind the disabled Delta plane. Ultimately, rerouting measures were implemented for the other planes, while the Delta Boeing 757 remained stranded on the runway for approximately three hours, awaiting towing, according to VASAviation.

Both Boeing and Hartsfield-Jackson Airport have redirected inquiries about the incident to Delta. At the time of reporting, Delta had not responded to FOX Business' request for comment on the situation. The incident adds to the recent challenges faced by airlines, highlighting the importance of swift response and safety protocols in aviation operations.
