KUWAIT CITY, Nov 20: The Municipal Council’s Environmental Affairs Committee, led by Alia Al Farsi, concluded its second workshop today, titled "Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Environmental System: Community Participation Between Situation Assessment and Solutions." During the session, the committee issued eight urgent strategic recommendations aimed at addressing the deteriorating environmental conditions in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, activating existing laws and regulations, and ensuring that regulatory authorities can easily access the area to monitor and address violations.
Among the committee's key recommendations was the need to measure air and water pollution levels and address the spread of diseases. They also called for urgent action to control the rising populations of rats and stray dogs in the area. The committee emphasized the importance of repairing the deteriorating sewage, drainage, and rainwater systems, which are contributing to the environmental challenges in the region.
Additionally, the committee recommended reducing population congestion and fixing deep potholes that are impeding access. To further improve the area’s environmental and health conditions, the committee urged the development of infrastructure that would allow regulatory and service authorities to effectively enter the area with their equipment, vehicles, and machinery. This would enable them to take the necessary steps to implement regulations and enforce laws aimed at improving conditions in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.
