KUWAIT CITY, June 29: The US Ambassador to Kuwait HE Karen Sasahara has commended Kuwait’s efforts in combating human trafficking, citing the US State Department’s recent report which indicates positive developments in this regard, reports Al-Qabas daily. In a statement to the daily, the US envoy reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to collaborate with the Kuwaiti government on this vital issue.
According to the 2024 report on human trafficking, Kuwait maintained its position on the watch list, remaining at the second level for the third consecutive year. This status was secured due to Kuwait’s submission of a written plan that prevented it from dropping to the third level. The report noted Kuwait’s efforts in combating human trafficking, highlighting measures taken such as investigating potential trafficking cases, increasing prosecutions under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law, and providing shelter and protection for trafficking victims. The US government, she said, appreciates these efforts and looks forward to continuing cooperation with Kuwait on this shared concern.
