US Embassies in Jordan, Iraq and Israel Urge Americans to Consider Leaving Middle East

WASHINGTON, Aug 1: The United States on Saturday urged its citizens in Israel, Iraq and Jordan to consider leaving the Middle East or be prepared to depart if regional tensions escalate further, citing the risk of missile and drone attacks, flight disruptions and possible airspace closures.

In separate security alerts, the US embassies in Jerusalem, Baghdad, and Amman warned that the security environment across the region remains volatile and could deteriorate without warning.

The US Embassy in Jerusalem advised Americans in Israel to consider departing the region or be prepared to leave if conditions worsen. The embassy warned that Iran and Iran-aligned groups could target US interests and urged citizens to familiarize themselves with the location of the nearest shelters and remain alert for potential missile and drone attacks.

The US Embassy in Baghdad and the Consulate General in Erbil issued a similar warning, advising Americans in Iraq to maintain heightened vigilance and prepare for the possibility of rapid departure. The mission said it remains open but continues to operate under an ordered departure status. It also warned that flight cancellations and airspace closures could occur if the regional security situation deteriorates.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Amman urged Americans in Jordan to consider leaving the Middle East or be ready to depart in the event of further escalation. The embassy cautioned that the security environment remains complex and unpredictable, with the potential for sudden developments.

The embassy also advised US citizens to avoid travel to military bases in Jordan, warning that Iran and groups aligned with Tehran could target US interests abroad. Americans outside the Middle East were urged to "seriously reconsider" travel to or through the region.

The coordinated security alerts come amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns over the possibility of a broader conflict that could disrupt travel and threaten US personnel and interests across the Middle East.
