Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit accusing Pfizer, the drugmaker, of spreading fear and disseminating false information about the efficacy of its COVID-19 vaccine. Paxton contends that Pfizer, in suggesting its vaccine would bring an end to the pandemic, engaged in deceptive practices.
The 54-page lawsuit, filed in a Lubbock state district court, asserts that Pfizer violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act by making unsupported claims about its COVID-19 vaccine. Pfizer was the first pharmaceutical company to receive emergency approval for the vaccine from the federal government in late 2020, within a year of the first U.S. infection being detected. (Agencies)
