KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29, (KUNA): The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology has revolutionized football by resolving disputes over controversial officiating decisions, at times influencing the outcomes of key matches. Its purpose is to minimize errors and ensure greater accuracy in situations such as penalty kicks, red cards, and offside calls, using replay and multi-angle footage.
While VAR has been praised for enhancing fairness and precision, it has also sparked debate, with some fans and players arguing that it disrupts the flow of the game. VAR made its debut in the Gulf Cup during the 24th edition, hosted by Qatar in 2019
