Vehicle Fire on Fourth Ring Road Causes Major Traffic Disruptions

KUWAIT CITY, Mar 6: As the Fourth Ring Road undergoes repairs in both directions, causing significant traffic disruptions during peak hours, a vehicle fire near the Surra and Rawda areas has further compounded the challenges for commuters. According to a source from the Fire Force, a report of a vehicle fire in the middle of the Fourth Ring Road prompted traffic police to completely close the road toward Salmiya the day before yesterday. The closure remained in effect until firefighters from Hawalli successfully extinguished the flames, which had caused extensive damage to the vehicle. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit or a radiator running out of water.

In light of the incident, a Fire Force spokesperson emphasized the importance of adhering to fire safety guidelines and precautions. The source urged citizens and residents to follow safety procedures at home, in vehicles, and in public facilities. Recommendations include equipping properties and vehicles with fire prevention tools such as extinguishers, fire blankets, smoke detectors, and gas detectors. Additionally, individuals are encouraged to learn how to use and maintain these devices regularly to ensure their effectiveness.

The spokesperson also highlighted the necessity of regular vehicle maintenance to prevent such incidents. Drivers are advised to change engine oil periodically, ensure adequate water supply for the vehicle, avoid leaving flammable materials inside, and refrain from leaving chargers or smart devices exposed to high temperatures. Ensuring the safety of electrical connections and avoiding smoking in vehicles were also stressed as critical preventive measures.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety awareness and proactive measures to mitigate risks, particularly during periods of heightened traffic congestion and road repairs. Authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and prioritize safety in all settings.
