KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22: Kuwait's Ministry of Interior has announced new penalties for vehicles that violate road safety and environmental standards, effective from April 22, 2025. Under the new regulations, vehicles emitting excessive noise, thick smoke, or unpleasant odors, as well as those carrying hazardous or flammable cargo that may scatter or leak onto the road, will face strict penalties. Additionally, vehicles deemed unsafe due to accidents affecting their balance, tires, or overall roadworthiness will also be subject to fines.
Offenders can settle the violation with a 75 KWD fine.
However, cases referred to the court may result in harsher penalties, including a prison sentence of up to three months and fines ranging between 150 KWD and 300 KWD, or both. The Ministry of Interior urges all motorists to comply with these regulations to ensure road safety and environmental protection.
