KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: The Misdemeanor Court has decided to extend until January 16 the deadline to issue its verdict in the case related to “the disclosure of information about current and pending cases at the courts” which was filed against 26 individuals including court clerks in the Ministry of Justice, lawyers and their associates.

The Public Prosecution charged 13 of the defendants, in their capacity as public servants (court clerks at the Ministry of Justice), with disclosure of information on current and pending cases at the courts where they work, an act deemed in violation of the court and case confidentiality clauses as stipulated by law.

The accused were charged with filming some of the decisions on certain cases and documents, and then sharing the information with each other. The rest of the defendants were charged with leaking the information through mobile phones and social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, IMO and Messenger, ignoring the fact that such actions would harm the interest of the party they work for, and also harm the integrity of the lawsuits.
