KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8, (KUNA):  Kuwait's Special Olympics team, representing Al-Tomooh Sports Club, returned home on Monday after securing the gold medal in the regional modern sailing competition for the Middle East and North Africa, held in Dubai. The competition focused on promoting social empowerment for individuals with disabilities. Kuwait was represented by athletes Sulaiman Al-Nasser and Nawaf Awadh.

Chairwoman of the Kuwait Special Olympics Board, Hanaa Al-Zawawi, expressed her gratitude to the Kuwait Marine Sports Club in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), thanking them for their support of Al-Tomooh’s participants and for providing partner athletes to join the competition. The head of the delegation, Saddiqa Al-Ansari, emphasized the strong backing from Kuwait's public authorities, which helped the Kuwaiti champions make their first appearance in the competition.

Nawaf Awadh, one of the athletes, told KUNA that despite the fierce competition, they managed to win the gold medal thanks to their thorough preparations and the guidance of the technical and administrative staff, led by manager Habbab Al-Hami. He dedicated the victory to Kuwait.

Meanwhile, Manaf Al-Wuhaib, an athlete from the Marine Sports Club, remarked that this achievement is just the beginning of further successes for Kuwaiti sports, especially in the field of intellectual disabilities.
