KUWAIT CITY, Jan 8: The volleyball league resumes today with two preliminary round matches. At 5:00 PM, Kazma will face Yarmouk, followed by a match at 7:00 PM between Al-Qadsiya and Al-Sahel. This will be Al-Sahel's first match of the season, as it did not participate in the Federation’s activation tournament, which concluded last month. All matches will take place at the Federation Hall in Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex.
The tournament began on December 23 with the Volleyball Federation’s Competitions Committee scheduling two matches for the Kuwait Club against Al-Nasr on December 23 and Yarmouk on December 26. The "White" team won both matches 3-0, as the "Dean" was preparing for the 43rd Arab Clubs Championships for Men in Doha, Qatar, from January 13 to 26, and the West Asian Clubs Championship in Manama, Bahrain, from February 5 to 18. These tournaments will be preceded by training camps in Qatar and Bahrain, respectively.
Kazma and Al-Qadsiya are expected to easily overcome Al-Yarmouk and Al-Sahel due to their superior experience and capabilities. Kazma kicked off the new season with a victory in the Union Activation Championship, while Al-Qadsiya, the current Federation Cup holder, is poised to compete for both the league and cup titles.
In a separate announcement, the Asian Volleyball Federation revealed that starting in 2025, the Asian Clubs Championship for both men and women will be renamed the "AFC Champions League for Men and Women."
